Amelia was born and grew up in the city of Bristol. She then went on to higher education completing a Drama degree at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. After graduating, she returned to Bristol for her professional training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Amelia Moved to London in 2005.
During her professional career as an actor, her credits range from Stephen Sondheims Company “…Mentions go to Amelia Bamford, arch, diva-ish and pure Liza Minelli as Joanne…” (Bristol’s Venue Magazine) to The Knight Before Christmas “…Amelia Bamford’s endearingly tongue-tied Chelspek proves the ladies can hold their own…” (The Bristol Evening Post). Her theatrical genres have extended from pre-seventeenth century in Philip Massingers The City Madam to modern plays such as Shelagh Stevenson’s Five Kinds of Silence.
In the summer of 2005 Amelia co-starred in a production of Gary Henderson’s Skin Tight at The Bristol Old Vic Basement and then onto The Barons Court Theatre, London. Of her performance, Venue Magazine wrote, “…Bamford and Wilkinson are striking to watch, the deep connection between them is palpable, so is their mix of strength and vulnerability…a powerful tender hours worth.” Richard Lowe’s review in the Bristol evening post stated “…a roller coaster, emotional journey…an evocative production…the acting by Amelia Bamford is of a consistent quality and intensity, drawing you deep into her characters unique and private world.”
