Chicago

Debbie appeared in London's West End in the leading role of Velma Kelly in the hit musical Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre from January to April 2006.

Starring with Debbie were Linzi Hateley (Roxie Hart), Darius Danesh (Billy Flynn), Chrissie Hammond (Mama Morton), Victor McGuire (Amos Hart) and Alex Weatherhill (Mary Sunshine).

Debbie with Linzi HateleyThe show with lyrics and music by Kander & Ebb was originally directed by Bob Fosse. This production is directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by Ann Reinking (in the style of Bob Fosse).

Everyone loves a legend, but in Chicago, there's only room for one. Velma Kelley burns in the spotlight as a nightclub sensation.

When she shoots her philandering husband, she lands on Chicago's famed murderess row, retains Chicago's slickest lawyer, Billy Flynn, and is the center of the town's most notorious murder case, only increasing her celebrity.

Then Roxie Hart arrives -- much to Velma's chagrin. As Roxie fashions herself as America's sweetheart, Velma has more than a few surprises in store, and the two women stop at nothing to outdo each other in their obsessive pursuit of fame and celebrity.
