Debbie appeared in the West End as Mimi Marquez in Rent at The Princes of Wales Theatre for a second time in the run beginning on 5th December 2002 until March 8th 2003.
Starring with Debbie were Damien Flood(Roger) , Dougal Irvine (Mark), Mykal Rand (Collins), Mig Ayesa (Angel), Jason Pennycooke (Benny), Wendy Mae Brown (Joanne) and Caprice (Maureen).
Debbie initially played Mimi in the Original UK Touring cast. The show started out in Leicester in February 2001 and moved to the West End of London in December following the tremendous reaction to the 30 week UK tour where performances of RENT were rewarded with rave reviews and nightly standing ovations throughout the country.
Amongst others in that production were Adam Rickitt, Damien Flood , Mykal Rand , Neil Couperthwaite ,Wendy Mae Brown, Lucy Williamson and Helen York
The show written by Jonathan Larson, was inspired by Puccini's 'La Boheme'. It is a joyous yet turbulent musical that explores the lives of a community of young New Yorkers as they struggle with the soaring hopes and tough realities of today. RENT is one of the most dynamic and exciting pieces of musical theatre to have been born in recent years.
The contemporary music of Rent spans generational boundaries with influences of rock, blues, gospel, soul and tango. It points musical theatre powerfully towards the future inspiring world-wide audiences both young and old.
