Helen Raw is a versatile and experienced actor and singer. She has played various lead and character roles to critical acclaim in musical theatre productions across Scotland and has appeared in many well-known television programmes, films and commercials.
She has a wide variety of other experience including 2½ years as an Entertainer & Singer with Celebrity Cruises (winning the Circle of Excellence Award for Entertainment), a murder mystery character actor, the founder of ‘Act One’ Children's Theatre, a children’s drama teacher.
Helen is a member of Equity, the Equity Singers Register, the Musicians Union and can be found in Spotlight Actresses.
Film
Helen’s upcoming projects are:
- A short thriller, inspired by true events – filming delayed until mid-2008
One of Helen’s recent films, ‘I Still Like Football’, will be premiered at the Edinburgh Filmhouse in June and August 2008 and is to be entered into BAFTA Shorts. Her last film, 6.05pm is in post production and will be released later this year.
Music
Helen is working on putting together a one-woman show featuring music made famous by Barbra Streisand and Eva Cassidy and plans to perform at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival should a slot become available. She is also working on her first studio album, which will be an eclectic mix of blues, folk, jazz, musical theatre and ballads – album work has been delayed due to filming commitments.
| Teaching
Helen is an Acting Teacher for Take3 Theatre Schools in Fife, Scotland and manages Raw Talent Productions, a company offering on-camera acting classes, after school drama classes, 1-1 acting coaching/audition prep and practical help for students with their ‘Standard Grade/Higher Drama’ studies.
