On Stagewelcome

Matthew has not looked back since giving up his job as a solicitor in 2004. "Since leaving LAMDA in April 2005 I have been involved in over 20 stage productions as well as numerous short films and various commercial work. If someone had told me in 2005 that within six years I would have worked for The Disney Channel and the BBC on three separate occasions, (for Casualty and for Panorama (both on screen and voice over)) and appeared on the stages at The Almeida, The Royal Court, The Shaw Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and The Old Vic, I would never have believed them. I have also been lucky enough to work on two feature films and helped Robin Soans the actor/playwright to research his latest play, which is due to be performed at the National Theatre.

“I try to have a really positive outlook on life and I am prepared to do what it takes, whatever that may be, to get the job done. When I was playing Slim, for example,  in Of Mice and Men, I had to learn to play the mouth organ, which was something I had never done before. Having been a lawyer for 10 years I also think that this helps me with preparation for roles”.

Matthew currently assists the Royal National Institute for the Blind with their audio tapes. He is also experienced in role playing work, after dinner speaking and improvisation. Dialects : RP(As standard), Estuary English, London, Northern, Birmingham. Accents: General American, South African and Eastern European.

In his spare time Matthew likes to keep fit by running. He has previously run the London Marathon race in 2006 and 2007 raising £4,000 for LeukaemiaCARE and hopes to do so again but injury has hindered his entry for the last couple of years.  He has a mad plan to run seven marathons in seven days at one point.
