Key anchor for ‘Russia Today’ – a 24hour rolling news channel broadcasting world-wide from Moscow. Sasha was the launch anchor for the station in December 2005. She has conducted numerous interviews with guests, analysts and correspondents. She is adept at handling breaking news, and most recently was on-air as the death was announced of Alexander Litvinenko, the Russian spy who died in London. She has excellent knowledge of international news and politics, and detailed understanding of events in both Russia and the CIS.
POLITICAL ONE-ON-ONE INTERVIEWS
Sasha researches, co-produces and presents in-depth topical political interview shows. Her more recent work dealt with freedom of the press in Russia.
ELECTION COVERAGE
Sasha co-produced and presented an election special on the Ukrainian Parliamentary election in March 2006. Naturally, the coverage was live and unscripted, with many political analysts and commentators joining her both in the studio, and from locations in Ukraine over the course of the evening.
LOCATION ANCHORING
G8 Summit, 2006 - Sasha anchored Russia Today’s coverage of the G8 summit live from St Petersburg.Over the course of five days, she presented over 30 hours of live, unscripted commentary from the site in St Petersburg. She also conducted numerous interviews with analysts and policy makers, including an exclusive interview with the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice
International Woman's Day - Sasha anchored Russia Today’s coverage of International Women’s Day (a major holiday and political event in Russia) live from the centre of Moscow. The day long coverage included numerious interviews with civil rights groups, busnesswomen, and the like. Many simulataneiously translated interviews.
Terror Alert - Heathrow Airport Sasha anchored the news coverage from outside Heathrow Airport during the terror alert (alleged airline bomb plot) in 2006. She spent all day filing reports and anchoring the first 15 minutes of every hour, after turning up at the airport that morning intending to catch a flight back to Russia!
